Banjoe Vacations welcomes you to Lake Lure! Leave the world behind as you ride the funicular down to The Enchanted Cottage. The indoor living space will make you feel at home, but the real magic happens when you step onto the porch and greet the beautiful Lake Lure! This classic lakefront house features three porches, a fire pit, dock, and boats. We have a great view, overlooking the mountains, Rumbling Bald Ridge across the lake, and the spots of some famous scenes from Dirty Dancing.

The Enchanted Cottage has four bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed, plus two twin beds in the downstairs rec room. All linens are provided, along with additional blankets for chilly nights.

There are three full bathrooms, equipped with towels, soaps, and shampoo.

Our large dining table seats 10, and nearby bar stools seat two more.

We have board games, puzzles, and a foosball table for rainy days and family time.

There is a full kitchen with a drip coffee maker, microwave, crockpot … just about everything you need.

The cottage has central AC and heat, but you may end up not using the AC, as the cool breeze off the lake feels fantastic!

A gas log fireplace is there to warm you up in the chillier months.

Our large, screened porch with two ceiling fans is perfect for rocking, dining, playing games, napping, or listening to music (and it's big enough for everyone).

The outdoor fire pit is a great spot for making S'mores and reconnecting.

Be sure to head out to the top of the boathouse for some incredible star gazing!

Total access to the whole house and all of the porches/decks/docks you can handle! You can get to the main floor by simply riding the funicular, but you'll need to walk down a couple of flights of stairs to get to the boat house. One important note - our tram adds an incredible amount of convenience, but it is not always available 100% of the time. Power outages or maintenance issues sometimes mean the tram won't be available. Anyone staying with us needs to understand that climbing the stairs may be necessary.

One of our visitors had this to say about the Enchanted Cottage: “The house is nice but you honestly don't spend much time in it. The dock and porches are fantastic. The use of the boat is great for driving out to a cove and swimming or finding the rope swing.”

We feel the same way!

Our large screened porch with two ceiling fans is perfect for rocking, dining, playing games, napping, or listening to music (and it’s big enough for everyone). The outdoor fire pit is a great spot for enjoying making S’mores and telling tall tales. And be sure to head out to the top of the boat house for some incredible star gazing!

This area is car dependent. We have parking spaces for up to 4 vehicles. If you have more than 4 vehicles, you will have to make arrangements for parking your extras cars elsewhere.

Our pontoon boat is your ticket to enjoying all of Lake Lure. Cruise the lake (license required, but we can help you get it quickly), catch some fish (permit required), and boat to some of the lake's restaurants. If you are interested in using our pontoon boat we do ask for $650 for unlimited use (most places on the lake rent them for over $800/day). The boat is typically available from late April through the October**.

**Additional note about Lake Lure:

Lake Lure is a town-funded lake that practices sporadic drawdowns. The drawdown of Lake Lure this winter will be from November 1st 2023 to the end of March 2024.

Please be aware that if you book from Nov - April, depending on what the town decides, there could possibly be little to no water in the lake. During drawdowns, kayaks, the canoe, and SUPs will be put away. However - there are plenty of other fantastic activities in the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock area during the winter season!

We had a wonderful time! The house was great and we had a great time on the lake. Loved the use of the boat! I would recommend adding a can opener to the kitchen and another pot.

Our family had the most wonderful time at the Enchanted Cottage. We had plenty of room to spread out in the house and the large kitchen table fit our group just perfect without feeling overcrowded. We had made delicious meals together. We spent a lot of time on the porch watching afternoon storms roll in and sipping coffee in the morning. We worked on a 1000 piece puzzle at the porch table during the week and finished late Friday night. A tradition of ours. Having access to the pontoon boat was such a treat and we toured the lake with our adult children and grandkids. We enjoyed after dinner boat rides to watch the sun set. Just gorgeous views. We used the kayaks and balance board and kayaks and spent a-lot of time just swimming and jumping off the lower deck. We brought fishing poles and caught sunnies. The house was very comfortable and well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen. We just brought food and drinks. Some places we rented, you needed to bring everything including your own sheets and towels! Not here, bedding and towels and paper goods were all provided. The beds were very comfortable. Bruce was very responsive to any questions and texted or emailed you right back. Very organized. We had the most wonderful experience and created many memories. Loved loved our stay here.

Lake Lure is absolutely breathtaking. The warm water. The wooded mountains rising dramatically from the water's edge. The gorgeous sunsets. The peace and tranquility. And the enchanted cottage is a perfect place from which to take it all in. The cottage is perhaps a bit smaller and less grandiose than a number of other rentals on the lake but the included boat, the convenient funicular and the location make it a great value. We were unpacked and on the water within 45 minutes of arriving. The cottage was comfortable for our family of 6 and we had a great time.

There's no doubt that the views are absolutely stunning and the peacefulness is incredible. With that being said, the house left a little to be desired and some areas are honestly unsafe. There are creatures living in the walls and at night were VERY active. They were so loud that it kept other guests awake and unsettled. When I messaged the owner about it I pretty much got the "I'll call my rodent guy but it is what it is" response. The front half of the deck above the boat house is beginning to break and slopes towards the water which seems a little dangerous. There are countless water spots on ceilings of the main living area and spots where it seems the roof may be sinking it. The view was spectacular and the boat was a very nice added addition.

The view is 5/5 stars. Beautiful! However, a few other things fell short. The board on the deck was rotting and broke when my sister walked across it causing her foot to go through the deck and she injured her ankle. Bruce was very apologetic about the board breaking, but unfortunately that doesn't heal her ankle. They were several other uneven boards which could be trip hazards. We were woken up before 9am by a jackhammer from construction next door, which lasted throughout the day. The neighbors threatened to call the cops and have our friends car towed because it was parked in front of an empty lot for 10 minutes. Outside needing a good sweeping and spider web removal. I understand spider webs can be built quickly but there was a lot of big webs out there! Even after we wiped down the rocking chairs, they looked very dirty. Also, be prepared to wash/dry your towels and strip all beds and bring linens to the laundry before you check out at 10am.

We had a great time at the cottage! Bruce was an awesome host, sending us recommendations of things to do in the area and making sure we had everything we needed. The pontoon boat was an added bonus for our weekend!

Let's see: where to start? Your first experience when you arrive is riding a funicular, which seats four comfortably. Kids love it. You arrive @ the fire pit and the lake is a little ways below. The house is older, but who cares? Very well equipped & functional kitchen; in fact, everything works well. This was our 7th year @ Lake Lure in 6 different houses and Enchanted Cottage was probably the most fun. Hard to say why some houses have a "vibe" & some houses leave you cold. This one was perfect!
