Starting At $150 - $550 /- Night
Visit Lake Lure and stay ON the water. This property includes both our one-bedroom Cardinal Cottage (which is built right over the lake) AND our one-bedroom tiny house, the Hummingbird house. Booking these together means you also have access to the hot tub, two SU Ps, a kayak, a canoe, and our pontoon boat (although there are extra fees involved with the boat). The rooftop deck above the Cardinal Cottage is a fantastic place to relax, and the fire table means you can enjoy it most of the year. But that is only one of the many outdoor spaces available. Dine alfresco on one of the dockside tables or toast the sunset from the upper deck of the Hummingbird house. With so many different places to hang out, even large groups will be able to spread out.
More about Cardinal Cottage:
This cozy house is built right over the water so almost wherever you look, you can see the lake. The cottage is comfortably furnished with two pullout sofas, an indoor dining table, and two outdoor dining tables on either side. The rooftop deck has a large modular couch plus loungers and a hammock. And don't forget the hot tub! There is a full kitchen ready to whip up meals for the group (including an espresso machine!), but there are also lots of good restaurants in the area.
The house comes fully equipped to make vacationing easy. It is generously supplied with all the toiletries you need (but do bring your own toothbrush), plus fluffy towels both for the bathroom and for the lake or hot tub. There is a desk to get work done if you must, but it overlooks the lake too so you'll still feel like you're on vacation. With two people in the master bedroom and two people on each of the sleeper sofas, this house can sleep 6 people.
More about Hummingbird Cottage:
This is a classic tiny house with a vertical design. The top floor is the bedroom (don't forget to duck!) with a comfortable queen bed, a reading nook, and a fantastic upper deck overlooking the lake. The middle level has a comfy pullout couch and a kitchenette and the lower level has a not-so-tiny bathroom. The kitchenette includes a 2 burner stove, mini fridge, microwave, and a toaster. Out the door on the lower level is a cozy firepit overlooking the lake. With two people in the bedroom and two people on the sleeper sofa, this property can sleep 4 people.
Our pontoon boat is docked right next to the house and is available for rent. We ask for $500 per day to rent the boat (they charge $800 at the marina!) and there isn't a better way to tour the lake. Ask us for more details.
You must be at least 25 years old to rent this property and no pets are allowed. This is a no-smoking property, which includes vapes.
** Additional note about accessibility:
We have one of the classic Lake Lure stone staircases leading down to the Cardinal Cottage and the docks. While being historic is nice, understand that the stairs can be a bit uneven and are not recommended for folks with mobility issues (see the photos). In addition, the ladder/staircase up to the bedroom in the Hummingbird House requires you to duck as you go up. Don't hesitate to ask any questions.
** Additional note about Lake Lure:
Lake Lure is a town-funded lake that practices sporadic drawdowns. The drawdown of Lake Lure this winter will be from Jan 1 2023 to end of March 2023.
Please be aware that if you book from Jan- April, depending on what the town decides, there could possibly be little to no water in the lake. During drawdowns, kayaks, the canoe, and SU Ps will be put away. However - there are plenty of other fantastic activities in the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock area during the winter season!
Distances to favorite area spots are:
Biltmore Estate: 45 min.
Black Mountain: 42 min.
Downtown Asheville: 50 min.
Chimney Rock State Park: 6 min.
Blue Ridge Parkway: 45 min.
Hendersonville: 36 min.
-PLEASE PUT ALL BOATS UP ON THE DOCK, DRAINED, AND PADDLES SECURED OR WE WILL CHARGE A $500 BOAT MAINTENANCE FEE
Thank you for your understanding!
